Great Day for Golf
Always love playing at this local course. It is quite challenging with its strategic trap and water hazards. The greens are typically very fast here, as it was for today. The traps are getting some new sand as several have washed away over the years. The fairways were extremely wet still, so very little to no roll. The rough is long and typically they keep it long, so its best to keep the ball in the fairways to score low. Unfortunately due to the amount of rain we have had, the course was very wet. This meant no carts on the fairways (cart path only), hence the pace of play was slow at about 4-3/4 hrs. Typical pace of play is about 4-1/4 hrs. Greens here were in pretty good shape for May. They are almost always very fast. The greens are typically two levels so you need to be accurate or risk the chance of having some very long, hilly putts. Definitely will be back and definitely would recommend this course as one to play in the Hamilton area.
Tired of
Went to play Oct 2016 which is bonus golf here in Southern Ontario. But highly annoying when courses brutally overbook to cash-in on fees when weather is good and like I said is bonus time. Had to wait almost an hour and there wasn't enough carts for the dozens of p,ayers waiting around!! BRUTAL!! What are these people thinking?! Not a bad track but they are notorious for overcharging and overbooking. These people want Toronto rates here in the Hamilton area...not gonna happen. Should be priced in the $50-75 mark including taxes and carts for peak rates!
Common.
Great conditioned course
WV was in great condition - especially considering all the terrible weather we've been having.
When the wind is up, look out!
It was extremely windy (2 to 3 clubs against the wind) and cold. As long as you kept the ball out of the fescue it can be somewhat forgiving. Anything into the fescue is gone as it is deep and thick. Despite a lot of rain in the prior 24 hours the course was playable and is a good test of golf with a lot of variety in holes.
willow was great
always a pleasure to play here; course in great shape with moderately fast greens. Only issue was the number of ball marks not repaired on greens (no fault of the course mgmt) Made for some uneven rolls. I'm blaming my 3-putts on them. LOL Greens always tough.
Beer princess funny, friendly with regular drive bys (twice on the front, twice on the back).
Finished in 4 hours.
Very pleasant surprise - playing it the first time
Lovely links-style course. Very interesting hole layouts. Lots of bunkers both green and sand if you stray from the fairways. If you can't stay in the fairways you will be hitting from an uneven lie or side of a hill. Not a lot of trees. Great greens ran true and decently fast. Got through my round in about 4 hrs during a weekday, and the 4-some in front of me were great and didn't take forever to putt out once they reached the green. The pace was perfect.
Can't wait to play it again.
sanded greens, slow back nine
Sanded greens were like shuffleboard table. Slow roll hard to judge speed and break. Hope they water the sand in better. Pace of play froze on back nine. An hour to finish last three holes.
Great looking golf course
Even though we endured a drizzly day, we thoroughly enjoyed Willow Valley. It never ceases to test you with abundant sand traps, water, and undulating greens. Well be back!
good round
Hadn't played here for years but course is always in great shape and fun to play. Greens are very fast and difficult. Sure to please.
Windy Willow wow
Greens in real nice shape. Nice layout what you see is what you get on the greens and fairways. Pace of play was excellent. Condition on the day we played cold and windy.
1 small beef
The day we played it was quite cool and extremely windy for mid-August. This added to the challenge as it was a 3-club wind at times. This course is becoming one of my favorites even though it is a 50-55 min. drive from Etobicoke.
This was the second time we played here this year and we had the same problem both times. The canopy used to cover the bags if it's raining kept falling down due to the worn out Velcro used to hold it up. This becomes very annoying after a while. We managed to tie it with a red pulled from a pond. I'm sure it wouldn't cost a whole lot to fix this problem.
Like I said, a small problem but an annoying one.
One Of Hamilton s great Golf Courses.
A little pricey but worth it.
well maintained with fast greens.
Real Treat...!!!
This course reminds me of South Carolina. Its a real treat to play, and would go back anytime.
Would definitely play this course again!
Well manicured and challenging! Many narrow fairways and blind doglegs will keep you on your toes all day...
Willow Valley delivers again
The course was in great condition and the greens were a good as advertised. The pace of play was also very good - chipping in from 30 yards also made for a memorable day!
Great Course
Great fairways and excellent layout, manicured except for divots on greens. Except for that would definitely return time and time again. Staff was very friendly. A must play course!
Very nice course
Willow Valley is a very nice course that was in great shape they had top dressed the greens but other than that it was nice. Drinks a little pricey as is the course but not bad with a golfnow deal.
Outstanding course
Beautifal and challenging course. One of the best in the Southern Ontario.
Always a great course to play!
Another good day at Willow Valley. the course is always in great shape. I personally dont like the new setup where you start on the old 10th hole. we were making good time but then ran into a slow group that had 2 carts/3 golfers and one walking; a good recipe for slowness and no marshall to be found. Food in snack bar was not very good.
But always a great course to play!
Note that there is a go-cart track nearby and sometimes that noise can be annoying. Plus the farmers fields were fresh with maneur so the air was pretty strong!
