'Masterpiece' is the only word adequate to describe Banff Springs. This
is truly a resort in the grand tradition. The setting along the Bow
River, presided over by three massive mountains, is glorious. The century-old
Banff Springs resort with its 800 rooms, 17 restaurants, 35,000 square-foot
spa, and glorious elegance, is splendid. And the 27-hole links-style
course, originally designed by Stanley Thompson in 1927, is superb.
Banff Springs is said to be the first course ever to cost $1 million
to build. Clearly, it was one of the best investments in golf history.
