Good course, Great Resort

St. Eugene is an interesting course located at the site of a former residential school just outside of Cranbrook. Like most courses in the area, St. Eugene has great views of the Rocky Mountains and the resort itself is quite nice. The layout of the golf course features both links-style holes and parkland holes that have impressive views of the river and some elevation changes. The best holes on the property are #9 (a narrow par-5 that doglegs around river), #13 (a par-3 with a dramatic elevation drop), and #18 (a risk-reward par-5 with views of the mountains and the Mission building as the backdrop). Conditions of the course are generally pretty good, but can be hit and miss. Sometimes it doesn't winter very well and the fairways are patchy well into the season. In terms of difficulty, St. Eugene is a moderate challenge. Higher handicaps and senior players will probably enjoy themselves more if they play the white tees. The resort is located very close to both Wildstone and Shadow Mountain, and both of those courses are solid as well. Overall, St. Eugene is a fun course to play and a good place to stay if you're on a golf vacation in the area.

First Time Playing

Overrated

The overall course layout is quite a nice mix of wide open links holes and tree lined fairways with some elevation changes. Couple behind us were walking but this is cart course for most. Previous rating in 2014 mentioned good conditioning, not the case today in prime time high season. Fairways were like hitting out of the first cut of most courses in area.( nowhere near as good as Wildstone)
Bunkers filled with crushed rock and strange vegetation in fairway bunkers. Green generally putted well.
Staff friendly. Would rate little higher if conditioning better

One of my favourite courses

I play this course every time I am in the valley. It's always in great shape. The fairways are nice and wide and the greens roll true. Sand is beautiful to play out of.
Not the cheapest course around, but well worth the fees.
Walkable for the adventurous, as much of the course is in the flats, but there are some big climbs, too.
Not a gimmicky course.
