Good Time

We try to play Olympic View fairly often. Challenging course, good selection of holes. You'll use most of the clubs in your bag. Great scenery. Golf shop staff are very good. Restaurant is superb.

Beautiful mountain type course

If you like a more challenging course with beautiful vistas and a variety of holes and elevations, this is a great course for you. Not all holes are drivers and you will need to use every single club in your bag. A good challenge and cerebral game here. Great service and staff. They have a steak buffet dinner on Thursdays with a booked tee time. A great golfing and dining experience and value.

Too tough for the average golfer

One thing I get when talking to people about this course is they always shoot much higher than at many other courses.
This track was designed for the best of the best. Long par threes that don't give easy acess to the greens. Smaller landing areas and a need for strong target golf. Some greens roll uncontollably to one side. Very difficult approach shots make this a track that really does not play well to my game.
I think they have some well designed features and 17th hole provides one of the coolest features on a course I have played but overall I never find my rounds enjoyable here. Frustration is always there because you could have some amazing shots that would end up just as bad as if you did not hit it well.
I feel this course would be beter souited to some design changes that make it a little more player friendly to high handicappers.
It is one of the better local practise facilities and the staff is great. Pro shop could be a little better but a wonder restraunt and patio make up for it.
It is just a course I really don't go out of my way to play because I know it will hurt my handicap. Great that you can walk to course but watch out for a few long journeys between holes with a couple being quite up hill.
Defintely worth a try but be prepared for a difficult set up.

Delightful Experience

We played this course on a tour of BC golf package. Price is an estimate.

What a delightful, wonderful day at a golf course. The entire staff was warm and professional. The server and the breakfast in the grill were both excellent. The course winds through a wooded forest area The staff paired us with the most delightful and friendly husband and wife member pairing. They added to the experience. The course is very well maintained. The course layout was straight forward, with no "tricked up" holes or excessive blind shots to the fairway. The greens were in excellent shape, rewarding a good putting stroke. Next time I am on Vancouver Island I will play this course again.

Olympic View GC

There is no shortage of challenging holes at Olympic View. An ideal course for those that can hit it straight and a real bonus if you can shape your shots both right and left off the tee. A good variety of holes, elevation changes, slippery greens and excellent menu on offer from the restaurant.

Revisiting an old friend

We played this course 10 some years ago and I walked away with a good feeling from it, so we decided to revisit during this stay. The course condition was a bit scruffy, probably due to the rain shortage in the area, but was very playable. The greens were in great shape. The pace of play was not so great, but we dealt with it. The routing is tricky but interesting, so I would say the course is "strategic". There are numerous layup holes where the landing areas are microscopic (watch out for the 12th hole). Love the setting of the green on 17 with the waterfall behind. Although not the best conditioned course we played, would play it again

I could of had a nap at the rate of play

Okay so the positives..... it was sunny and I was playing well. The negatives.... the pace of play was reduculous on average it takes me 3 and a half to 4 hours a round if we didn't bail after 15 holes which already was 4 and a half hours. On hole 3 was the first and last time the food cart came around and not once did a course Marshall come around to check the rate of play... the course its self was okay nothing special it was playable the sand traps some didn't have much sand in them and were barely playable. I'm not coming back to this course.

Difficult course but worth the play

On a vacation to Victoria, I took in one of the best public courses the area has to offer. It is not an easy course as tight fairways and some inconvenient placed hazards can really balloon a score. But it more than makes up for it with a clever design and some amazing features on some holes like the spectacular waterfall background on hole 17.
My best advice is play safe when you can. Your iron shots need to be accurate and putting needs to be on to score well.
It is a fun course and enjoyable experience but high handicap golfers might get frustrated if they are not shooting well. It is well worth the play as it is pretty affordable and the facilities are great.

tight, target golf

Played early tee time and pace was great. Joined up with two members and were very helpful re advice for club choice off tee. Risk/reward for positioning ball to 100 yard position left me laying up to 150 marker more often than usual. Greens rolled perfectly, although slightly slow. Great round overall. Will definitely play again when in Victoria.
