Dangerous lay out and unkept

First time playing since they became an 18 hole course, the original 9.holes was the back 9.
The course lay out for the front nine was horrible for your typical golfer all holes are very tight and basically set up so that you are shooting directly at other holes. Knew it was a problem when on the first hole there were probably 8 balls in the fairway coming from other holes. Also many blind holes where you can't see where players ahead are and when they have cleared the green had a couple balls shot past us because of it.
Not very well kept fairways and the boxes in very rough shape greens not much better and never seen traps so bad grown in with weeds. Only good thing I guess was the price 59 for 2 walking but for that I would rather go to jrs just up the road for cheaper and in previous years has been in much better shape. (have not played there this year yet)

Some challenges

Overall thee course was in better shape than last year. Still some work to do though in places. Need some benches at the tee boxes ans the ball washers need to be replaced and filled with water. We had a slow group of 3 guys in front of us who needed some etiquette lessons. Fortunately they only played 9 so the back nine pace was all ours. I had to speak .to the drinks cart girl because she stopped right in our approach path and proceeded to attract the slow guys to take their time purchasing goodies.

Average course

They are wotking to improve this course, Fairways and green show improvment from last year. You can see the errort that they are putting in to inprove the quality of the fairways and greens.
12 and 16 show great improvment. The staff were very curtious and all expectations were met. I simply handed the rep my golf now sheet and all was smooth sailing

Great track, but lacking in many areas!

This is not the first time that I have played Edm Springs. Used to be a member here years ago. Great layout with a lot of difficulty, but tee boxes and greens left much to be desired. Not to mention the unkept awful bunkers...really bad! The clubhouse was really lacking in that they didn't even have their restaurant open - no real food to buy. That all said, their twilight special is fair at $59 for two walking. We'll likely be back but it would be nice if there was at least a beverage cart on the course or a fully operational restaurant in the clubhouse. Oh well!

This course is value for the $20

Aerated greens would have been nice to know beforehand. Pro shop staff very rude...continuing a conversation about football, just handing us the cart key not telling us where to go to get the cart or where the first tee was...our first time here. No staff to organize tee times...long queue waiting...no guidance at all. Four fairways on the front nine were pretty risky as they were practically attached to one another, so there were golfers playing in both directions right next to one another. Back nine was much nicer and more fun....all needs a good maintenance man though !

Moderate to challenging course rounding into great shape

My buddies and I have been playing The Springs for quite a few years now, and we are all pleased that the owners are finally working on the course in ways that are turning this very attractive course, which has a good and challenging but fair layout, into a top course to play in the area. The staff is friendly, though you virtually never see a worker on the course. Good pace of play during the week even while busy (our walking round took 3:45 yesterday afternoon and we started at 2:35). We have definitely noticed that the fairways this year have grown in and are much more lush than in the past (new cart paths throughout the course will make a difference here too), attention to the tee boxes is obvious, and most of the greens are quite large, inviting, and now very nice to putt on - though they should all be cut more often and at the same time so they are at least consistent. Most of the traps need a lot of work and much better sand, though the answer to that for us golfers is to stay out of them! A course we would definitely recommend to anyone looking for great value and a course that rewards good shots well and doesn't overly punish those who don't hit the ball straight down the middle. Great golfnow deals on this course so check them often.

Great Value

The Course was almost empty on a Friday afternoon so the pace of play was very enjoyable. Although the fairways had a little winter kill and GUR the majority of the course was in good shape. Would definitely play here again great track for the price.

This course is a good test even for the skilled players.

Greens were running a bit slow for my liking. Looks like they could use a roller. Other than that, the fairways are the nicest I've seen here in some time. Pace of play was a bit slow, but to be expected considering there was a tournament and a couple stags going out before we teed off. Overall, not bad for the price $50 with cart through golfnow.com

Diamond In The Rough

I love this track !

some greens still not recovered from winter kill and the rough is too rough (can't find your golf ball)
Also lots of Tehsil Weed in trees and bush which makes it impossible to even look for your ball.

This course could be very good!

This course has excellent potential. It has some easy holes (4 & 5) and then some very challenging one (15 & 16). Some definite drainage issues are on about 9 holes and some greens that still patchy in late July.

Lots of water in play

Fairways were a bit dry and there were some patchy greens.
Very nice layout, lots of trees but generous fairways, quite scenic
I would play this course again.

challenging with reasons

Challenging because fairways and greens are so rough and in need of maintainence . It's like a "home -made " course.
Pleanty of insects that bite you so take the repellant. Alot of slow players .
Good price for the "hacker " , dress code doesn't seem to exist.

The course is working hard at becoming a fun place to play.

I played the springs three weeks ago and must admit it wasn't what I'd hoped it would be. However, they have added barber pole for 100,150 and 200 yard markers and put distance markers on all the tee boxes. So it seems to me like the gang there is working hard at making the course an excellent place to play. It has some really challenging holes and is well maintained. The greens need a little work and seem to be a bit long and slow but time should heal those wounds. It also didn't hurt that we caught them on a two for one day. At that price I'd play there all the time!
