Guildford Golf and Country Club
About
Guildford Golf & Country Club has long been known as one of the finest courses British Columbia has to offer. The golf course is located in Surrey, just across the U.S. border from Washington and less than 40 minutes from Vancouver. The scenic layout has fairways lined with mature trees and the greens are large and undulating. There are also creeks that weave across the golf course and numerous lakes that come into play. The layout has a classic design that still provides a challenge for all skill levels. Golfers are put to the test right away on the first two holes, a par 4 and a par 3 respectively, which require good course management and thoughtful decision making. Guilford's standout hole though, is the signature 16th. This tough par 3 is modeled after the notorious 12th hole at Augusta National, complete with a stone bridge and water hazard that encircles almost the entire green.

This course is not good for golfers who prefer to walk
Tough for walking, especially with twilight due to uphill and sunset
Challenging Targets
The greens were a little slow as they were micro groomed and still need some more growing and rolling. However they did roll true and took quite a bit to get used to. Tee boxes need some work and the fairways are perfect for the fees.
Cart girl was very pleasant
Greens were in excellent shape. It was busy but no waits ... a great day had by our foursome
Needs improvement
The course itself is ok. Greens and fairways not too bad. The pace of play was again very slow. There was a Marshall driving around but never addressed the group ahead of us taking a lot of extra time looking for balls etc. Our round took 5.5 hours.
There is still only one rather disgusting outhouse on the entire course. With the layout the only option to use the clubhouse is on the 1st and 3rd holes. Otherwise there is nothing.
Tee boxes need some serious love
Guilford is always a fun track - but it does have its issues. Every tee box is chewed up and finding an even lie to tee off from is near impossible.
Pace of play can be an issue as there is hardly ever a visible marshall out there, but it comes with the territory when you’re playing a city course, I guess?
However, the greens were in the best shape I think I’ve ever seen them. Rolling fast and definitely added to the challenge.
The value for the course is great though. When finding a quality tee time has become scarce in Vancouver area, Guilford is always reliable.
I’ve played many times and always come back, but I do wish they’d offer the tee boxes some TLC.
Good value but slow pace
Golfed here last minute on a Sunday. Course was in great shape. Layout is a bit tight for the first 5 holes but improves from there. Not too much water to deal with but there are a couple holes with a blind tee so you need to be aware of the group ahead of you.
It took a little over 5 hours to finish. Followed a group of 4, 3 of which were playing from the front tees, each scoring 8 - 10 strokes on each hole. It was painful.
Overhead power lines are in play on a few holes but you’d have to hit a really high lofted iron to come close.
Too many golfers who are slow
To be fair, I can't rate the course, since I only got in 3 holes. As well, this is more a representation of the clientele instead of the course, but.......
Played there today late in day around 5:00pm. Was playing by myself and teed off with no one on the hole at all.
By the time I teed off on the second hole, the other group in front was just reaching the 3rd hole.
I don't know what they were doing, but I got to 3rd hole just as they finished teeing off.
Then I stood and waited while all 3 walked all over the hole to find their ball.
I waited until the reached the green and teed a duffer about 140 yds out. Hit an iron to side of green, chip and putt.
Got to hole 4 before the 1st guy even teed off, they teed off, then just looked at me and walked off to their balls in the trees.
After waiting a good 8 - 10 minutes to be able to tee off, I finally put my tee in, took a few practice swings and looked up to see some guy slowly walking into the middle of my fairway, take some practice swings, and slowly make his shot. All while I'm standing there staring at him in disbelief. He walked into my fairway like it didn't matter and took his time.
At that point I just walked off the teebox and went inside the pro shop and told them.
They offered to let me play again from the 1st hole, but now it was an hour later, so I didn't want to.
Overall, just a bad, bad experience and I won't ever go back here.
Not busy on Mothers Day
We golfed on Mothers day and it was very quiet.
Normally, the pace of play is very slow. Lot's of waiting at the next tee usually and sometimes 2 groups ahead of you at the next tee.
Out of last 5 times golfing here, with the exception of Mothers Day, it is very slow with no beverage cart, or a Course Marshall.
Poor amenities and pace of play
30 degrees and still no beverage cart in operation. With the only access to water and washroom being at the 1st and 3rd holes it’s a long way to go. The only other toilet is at 10th tee but it’s so disgusting I’d rather go behind it than in it. The foursome in front of us really took their time but nothing was said to them because one of them had some sort of clout with the course.
Pretty good deal
Overall it’s great. Good value. Greens are in good shape. Fairways pretty good. Rough was heavy with lots of grass clumps, but hopefully they can get the mowing under control. Still quite wet. Pace of play was okay. Still 4 and half hours plus. But it’s a nice walk, with some good holes. And booking online is great.
Nice Day
Went on a whim, was only $38 on Golfnow.com. I'd golfed it years ago but decided to try it again. Course was in pretty good shape for early in the season, nice sunny day and the pace was decent. No complaints.
Decent but slow
Decent value for the money. Early season conditions but not too wet. Greens were good. Pace of play was shocking. 5:10 for 18 holes on a Tuesday. No marshals. But still enjoyed it. Will be great once it dries out a bit more.
Good conditions fun course. Only thing missing was somewhe to grab a snack or bevy at the turn.
Overpriced
Just played last weekend , then a friend called yesterday and said he set up a time for the up coming weekend . The price on golf now 82 bucks walking . Where did they possibly get this price from .
Low cost garbage
I had limited time and for the price that was fine. I went to the tee book for my time. The group ahead of us hadn’t hit yet. Apparently some random group slipped in. Then the group ahead of us started late and quickly got a hole behind. Almost 3 hours to play 10 holes in the mud. No wonder it’s the cheapest around.
