Great time
My guest from Manitoba played the course for the first time and loved it. A great day that was supposed to be sunny but fog set in. We still played as we could see no problem on the course. We had a very pleasant day and definitely will return
Unfortunately they were aerating their greens that day
We were only able to play the back 9 twice because of the greens being aerated. The course was drier than I had anticipated. The greens were very good though. Bunkers need attention (rocks mixed in with the sand)
Very Nice Course
1st time playing Crown Isle and was very impressed. We golfed with a couple member who were very nice and we will definitely play again. Thanks for the experience.
Always great
Fun for my wife and I to play this course.
Treated so well and enjoyed a terrific lunch after our enjoyable golf..
Other courses could learn lots from the courteous, friendly staff at Crown Isle
Pro Shop
Too much stuff jammed around the front of the check in counter. I inadvertently knocked over a big bag of display clubs as I was paying for my round. A grey haired older staff member behind the counter who was not checking me in, with a scowl on his face made a derisive remark to me as I was picking up the clubs bag.
When I went back in to the pro shop after my round looking to buy something as a remembrance I commented (humoureslly) to the same older staff member “Hopefully I won’t knock anything over this time”
His reply again derisive “I should hope not”
Soured my experience.
Course in great shape.
Slow play due to a fivesome playing ahead of us but overall good experience.
Nice course layout and greens but in need of course marshalling. It took us five hours + to complete a round.
Would prefer a grass surface to mats on driving range.
Very pleasant and welcoming reception at bag drop, starter and driving range but pro shop had a difficult time finding our reservation.
Great round, big group of 50 slowed things up on the front but quick on the back. Staff super friendly and nice patio for apres golf.
Wet/muddy conditions +? Rates
Hi! Played CI yesterday.......course was way more muddy/wet than I expected! Seems like not much course maintenance going on but lots of houses being built? My group played Pheasant Glen rhe week before and it was in much better shape.......the ball was even bouncing in areas around many greens so pretty amazing for this time of year!
Another peave I have w CI is on their website for booking online, they list a "CV Resident rate" and an "Island Resident rate"........CV Is for anyone living in the Comox Valley incl Royston, Cumberland etc. Island Resident rate, IMO, should apply to anyone living on Vand Island.........it DOES NOT so we would py $10 mo per round per person! No where, that I could see, does CI define either CV or Island Resident rates. When the course does out it is a fantastic one but for now, I would play PG!
Value
A good value at 45$ range; greens were excellent; the fairways very good for this time of the year - sand traps were deplorable -
GREAT WINTER GOLF
Played in a delayed shot gun. 1st hole was closed due to frost, but staff were very accommodating and we played in under 4 hours. Great Canadian winter golf!!
Course work being done
I wish we would have known that 9 holes were closed for punching , played back nine twice and greens were full of sand. A heads up on booking would have been appreciated. Also, course is surrounded by housing construction right now, although they are doing a good job of keeping the course going, it is very noisy.
