Crown Isle Gem
Crown Isle is a beautiful course, we were fighting the wind on the back nine. There are some fairways on the front nine that are covered in sand ,it is tricky to get your shot up and away cleanly, and tricky to sort out ,your distance accurately. Pace of play was good. We had a threesome behind us, they nearly hit me in the back of the head, not very good golf etiquette at all ! Staff are friendly, overall great round !
$$$$ Crown Isle
Although the golf course was in prime condition - for the cost to play one would think GolfNow/Course would throw in s bucket of balls and a PULL cart if needed; especially when the pull cart doesn’t even hold your umbrella.
We did enjoy drinks, appies and dinner on the deck. Chicken dinner was fabulous. Lots of root vegetables.
A $300 dollar day. So glad the sun came out and no rain for late September.
Crown Isle - Late September
Wow can not remember the golf course looking this good. Awesome greens and trimmed fairways.
It’s over priced, a treat to play. An extravagance. Should really include free range balls and a PULL cart if needed. $7.50 for a pull cart that has no mechanism to hold your umbrella - WOW.
Even Metchosin Golf Course throws in a pull cart if needed.
We always enjoy the deck for brew-sky afterwards that sometimes includes dinner. Why not include a discount for golfers playing and dinning.
We use to stay at the resort May and September for several nights but prices have increased immensely for golf and dinning.
A treat now like I said
Great Design - Overpriced for the conditions.
Beautiful golf course design... lots of new home construction coming down the stretch is quite the eye sore... disappointing that their was no mention of the conditions of the greens that were just sanded prior to paying $120 for 18 holes and a cart for a afternoon tee time. I would play this course again but only for a deal...
A Great Morning of Golf
I always like to play Crown Isle at least once when visiting the Comox Valley in the summer. The course was very well groomed with good-sized greens that were lush and fast (but not ridiculous). The fairways and sand traps were in great shape. I had an early morning tee time with three club members. I thought they might resent an outsider, but instead they welcomed me with open arms. Very laid back and with a great sense of humour. It was also fantastic that they were all walkers (golf is a walking game). We kept up a decent pace and were not bothered by the marshal. They have a great restaurant with an outdoor patio overlooking the 18th green (you can get a snack there after the playing the 9th hole). The course is built around a community, but unlike some I have played, almost none of the the houses are in play unless you hit a really bad tee shot.
Lots of doglegs to conquer
My biggest takeaway from Crown Isle was all the doglegs I had to take on off the tee. All these twists and turns - and the bunkers that guard them - made for a stimulating day driving the ball. You could take on the sand or bail out up the middle and face a longer approach shot into the greens. Sometimes my heroism was rewarded. Other times, I sunk in the sand.
New this year is the reshaped 13th hole, where a pond up the left side forces a layup off the tee. The hole was redesigned to make way for a new section of real estate to develop.
Playing on the cold afternoon of my arrival day, I felt stiffer than normal. I sank two mid irons into the water on holes 4 and 16, even though they should be relatively easy par-3 tee shots. I hit my second attempt within 15 feet of the hole each time. I guess that's why G-O-L-F is a four-letter word.
Over 5 Hour Round
It’s a nice course, but expensive. Our round took over 5 hours to complete. I won’t return.
Excellent golf course
Crown Isle is pretty much my home cause and I always enjoy it but after a cool, wet beginning to June, the weather turned HOT this week and the course is in excellent condition. We got a Golf Now "HotDeal" so really enjoyed the value as well. Only downer is that the beverage cart was on on the course today. Bad planning Crown Isle. It was 32 degrees plus humidity. All and all, an excellent day.
Why are there no T-Times for golf now?
Great course, good drainage.
This is my preferred course in Courtenay. Well maintained and friendly staff.
Only complaint/question is where are the GolfNow T-times??
A True Gem Nestled In the Comox Valley
One of the most stunningly beautiful courses in B.C., Crown Isle combines a wide variety of holes with exceptional conditions. This course must be played strategically if one is to reap its rewards!
Golf and Housing Development
I enjoyed my round here on Saturday. The price was good. The pro shop staff member was great. The practice facilities were great. The course was in good shape other than one hole which had a temporary tee. I think given my normally high handicap I would feel more comfortable at a course with fewer houses. I didn't have any close calls, but the worry of maybe hitting a bad slice into someone's yard did play into my shot selection. I lost three balls in the water and there are a number of holes with water. There appears to be a lot of new building lots going in and a lot more houses already built on the course since I played it last. I would play the course again, but hopefully when I am a better golfer.
Sand traps
Sand traps are terrible. They have not added any sand for years and are down to the landscape cloth in many places
best winter conditions north of Qualicum !!! Fast greens and well drained fairways. Sandtraps poorly raked and some muddy or eroded.
Greens almost as good as summer
Fairways and greens were is great shape for this time of year.
